Clinical engineering

i happened to read in The Hindu, education plus, that IIT-Madras is planning to offer a  course in clinical engineering. Unbelievably, there is a tremendous growth in the healthcare industry. In the united states of america, lot of funds have been allocated for the health care of its people. India should also think about it seriously as  it is a matter of growing concern  of our  growing population.  I welcome the  plans of IIT, Madras for having introduced a course in clinical engineering from this year onwards. Im sure many people who aspire to become doctor, but still cannot fetch a seat due to the previling reservations in our country, could take up this wonderful course in clinical engineering.

clinical engineer is a professional who supports and advances patient care by applying engineering and management skills to healthcare technology. Equipment management, inventory management, training of users and healthcare assessment is a part of their job. in terms of placement, clinical engineers are sought after specialists in India. And once accreditation of hoipitals become mandatory, all hospitals may requirea clinical engineer.

It seems all B.E/ B.Tech graduates can apply for the M.Tech clinical engineering course. Their GATE score will be taken into consideration for the selection. There willbe a screening test and a personal interview to select only sixteen students for the first batch, all set tio begin in the month of july this year. '
